LBD. Keep it as classic and minimalistic as possible, free of embellishments, and anything too short (just above knee-length at the shortest). Think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
White Button down Shirt. Great to wear under a blazer to dress up, or down. Wear with skirts, jeans, dress pants.
Black Blazer. Wear a black blazer to bring your outfit together to create a professional look, or for something after hours at a restaurant, party, or day off casual with a pair of jeans. A black blazer goes with everything.

Black Handbag. Black goes with everything and hides dirtiness best, so it will look better longer. It is the most versatile, so it can go from casual to business, to parties, to travel, and never look out of place. If you don't have a black handbag, you should get one.

Simple Pearl Necklace. Every female needs to have a simple pearl necklace in her wardrobe. It adds elegance to an outfit instantly, and is not too much drama to be worn for any occasion.
Simple Pearl Studs. For classic, ladylike elegance, simple pearls are all you need. These work well for work, because they are small, and subtle, not distracting.
Black & Nude Pumps. Both go with everything. Black are the most classic staple, and nude pumps pair well with lighter colored outfits, and make your legs look longer, as the shoe blends in with your skin tone.
Black Riding Boots (Equestrian Style). Everyone needs an essential comfortable and flat, boot for the cooler months. They are great for more casual looks, and make walking on ice and snow a whole lot easier for us girls.

Dark Wash Jeans. Everyone needs a pair of dark wash jeans that fit them perfectly. Invest in a good pair, and they will last for years. They can be worn causally, or even paired with heels and a nice top for going out. Remember to make sure they are dark wash,as they are not only more flattering (dark is slimming), but also more dressy than a light wash blue jean.
Trench Coat. The khaki trench coat is a great staple for spring, summer, and fall.

I didn't include the basics of the white and black cotton shirt, or tank tops, and leggings, because those aren't pieces you need to invest in. Items like those can be bought for less money, and replaced more often. The pieces I mentioned, are all worth saving up for, because they are all classic, they can be worn now, and in the many years to come.
