Easy Summer Style: The Maxi Dress

The Maxi Edition

The maxi dress is a great versatile piece to have in the summer months. Many say, once they start wearing them, they quickly become a go-to essential piece in their summer wardrobe. It protects your skin from the elements, due to it's long length. It flows well, whether standing still or moving, allowing your skin to breathe, and sweat to escape. It also is good length, so it can be worn to many occasions, including formal ones.

Maxi dresses are great if you want to indulge in summer colors and prints. They are a carefree style of dress, that allow you to feel feminine, elegant, casual, and comfortable all at the same time. You don't have to worry about how your legs look, because the dress covers them up entirely. They also allow you to breathe, because it's not tight, or constricting anywhere, which is great for very hot days when being comfortable and not getting too sweaty walking around are simple, but sometimes difficult tasks.

Somehow the maxi manages to dress up for a variety of casual and formal occasions. Even in casual situations, a maxi dress, flat sandals, and a large hat look chic and glamorous. Take this blue dress, it can be worn with a belt around the waist, to show your figure, or accentuate the waist. This gives a different look to the dress, and gives it a more relaxed appearance. If you want look more formal in a maxi, don't use a belt, and pay more attention to accessories.

A maxi dress comes in many cuts, colors, and patterns. This is great for anyone that wants to find some that are more formal looking, (such as the one above) which would work well for an evening out, and formal events. When you get cool, you can wrap a lovely scarf, or shall around yourself. A great thing about a maxi is they work so well with flats, even for a formal event. Comfort comes first with a maxi, whereas when wearing a shorter dress, I know I always feel I need heels to look (and feel) like I'm dressed up.

I know some people don't like maxis, but since they are so versatile, comfortable, and effortlessly chic, I say at least try on a few. You may love how a maxi looks and makes you feel. Then, wonder how you went so long without one.

Do you wear maxi dresses? If so, what do you like most about them?
